It’s been a great final day of Targa Tasmania for Dean Herridge and Glenn McNeall. The days final six stages didn’t pose a problem and their #993 Subaru WRX STi crossed the line in third, a podium finish at Dean’s second attempt.
An ‘off’ by Jason White on the final Saturday stage left a hole in the gearbox of his Lamborghini, and he was unable to complete the Sundays opening test. But White’s misfortune elevated Dean and Glenn up into third outright, and the pair held out a charging Ray Vandersee, completing the event four seconds clear of the 4th-placed Skelta G-Force.
“It’s only our second time at Targa, so a top 5 result would have been great, but a podium is fantastic. We learned a lot from last time; it’s one of those events where you need a bit of experience and strategy. We stuck to our own plan; there’s some stages that suited us and others that didn’t. But a podium finish; we’re absolutely wrapped with that!”
