Rewind to 2003

It’s time to hit the rewind button, and travel back to 2003!

It was a year of highs and lows for Subaru Rally Team Australia. The year began with the announcement that team leader Possum Bourne would launch a full-scale attack on the Production World Rally Championship, while at the same time attempting to defend the Australian Rally Championship title he had ‘owned’ since 1996. SRTA was the most successful and professional team in what was regarded as the most competitive national rally championship in the world.

But the team, and the rallying community, was turned up-side-down when Bourne died in tragic circumstances at the famous ‘Race to Sky’ event in his native New Zealand.

That left SRTA with its two young-guns, Cody Crocker and Dean Herridge, to defend the title Bourne had made his own for so long.

Thanks to Chevron Publishing, we’ve taken a snapshot of Dean’s year, including his Group N 2nd place at Rally Australia.
